What are advantages of the birth control pill besides it being used for birth control?

For instance, I heard that it was good for your bones (the hormones that are in it). Anything else? I am not sexually active, so getting pregnant is not an issue, but I would like to know the advantages to taking the pill. It can regularize your periods and make menstruation shorter and lighter. It may decrease cramping and other PMS symptoms.





It may decrease acne and abnormal hair growth.





It cuts down on yoru chances of ovarian cysts, ovarian cancer, and cancer of the uterus. It reduces your risk of anemia due to heavy periods.





It may or may not reduce your risk of osteoporosis. Studies have been inconclusive about this.





On the flip side, it can cause mood problems, weight gain, and lower libido. Different pills affect women differently, and you may have to try several before you find one you can tolerate. It may raise your chances of breast cancer, and it causes blood clots in rare cases, which can lead to a stroke. Your stroke risk is higher if you are over 35 and smoke.

I first got on it to help with my periods. It lessened my cramps and lightened my flow. Also I can now predict when my period will start within 12 hours which is awesome!
Some people say it will help clear up your skin...





It didn't clear up my skin and I gained 10 lbs... Needless to say... I went off the pill...





It also puts you at risk for blood clots and osteoporosis (softening of your bones).

Actually it can be BAD for you bones! The pill and the Depo shot can cause temporary weakness in your bones.


Apart from the obvious benefits of being able to control your periods and a slight increase in breast size there really are no other benefits to taking it.
can enlarge your boobs, it can increase ur ex drive (when u bcome sexually active), u can control when u have a period, hope it helps cant think of any more
