How Do I control the speed of a remote control dc motor from the transmitter?

I am making a remote control plane and I would like to control the speed of the motor from the transmitter with a variable resistor how would I do this?How Do I control the speed of a remote control dc motor from the transmitter?

If you do not wish to invest in an electronic speed control, you may use a wound resistor and a wiper arm (found inside a slot car controller). This will depend on the AMPs you draw. That is how we used to do it in R/C cars in the late 70's
you need to get an esc off of tower hobbies or a local hobbie shop.
